Australia : Community Information Strategies Australia
DonorTec is operated by
Community Information Strategies Australia (CISA), and was launched in
partnership with TechSoup in 2007. CISA has been operating as an NGO in Adelaide, South
Australia, since 1981, providing community service
and events information to NGOs on a local level, as well as technology
information services to NGOs nationally. The TechSoup program was launched in January 2007 and was the pilot country in the region.
The DonorTec program is part of a broader ongoing strategy of providing ICT support to the Australian nonprofit sector - a sector which represents 3% of Australia’s GDP (some estimates are higher), and is larger than both the IT sector itself and the Local Government sector. This strategy includes heading the Connecting Up conference series - Australia’s only annual national conference on ICT in the nonprofit sector – and running an informational website [www.communIT.info] to serve as a technology resource to non-profits.
